Mono Ammonium Phosphate
Description:
When ammonia gas is put to phosphoric acid solution and the two react until the necessary PH is reached and the solution becomes noticeably acidic, mono ammonium phosphate is created.
Application:
- Mono ammonium phosphate is commonly used to fireproof paper, wood, and fiberboard. It is used with sodium bicarbonate to make baking powder.
- Mono ammonium phosphate (MAP) is a rich source of phosphate and nitrogen that plants can utilise to aid in their growth. It is combined with ammonium sulphate and used to make ABC dry chemical fire extinguishers. It has a lower PH than di ammonium phosphate, making it ideal for use as fertiliser and minimising seed damage.
